When New York Meets India: An International Wedding at Villa Arvedi

When New York Meets India: An International Wedding at Villa Arvedi

Some weddings bring two people together.

Others bring together cultures, traditions, and worlds that may seem miles apart.

That is exactly what we had the privilege of experiencing while celebrating an international wedding at Villa Arvedi, one of the most beautiful historic wedding venues near Verona, Italy.

It was here that two families, two traditions, and two cultures became one.

The couple at the heart of this story were Liz, from New York City, and Ashit, originally from India.

Their story began almost by chance in Manhattan’s West Village. What first seemed like a simple encounter gradually turned into a deep and meaningful relationship, eventually leading them to choose Italy as the place where they would exchange their vows and begin a new chapter together.

Creating a Ceremony That Truly Reflected Their Story

Every wedding ceremony is unique.

However, when two different cultures come together, the role of a wedding celebrant becomes even more meaningful.

It is never just about writing a beautiful ceremony or speaking fluent English.

It is about understanding different family traditions, cultural backgrounds, personal values, and the emotions that each couple wants to share with the people they love most.

Through several conversations with Liz and Ashit, we had the opportunity to discover not only their love story but also the experiences that shaped them as individuals and as a couple.

Those conversations became the foundation for a completely personalized wedding ceremony that truly reflected who they are.

A Personalized Ceremony in English

Because guests had travelled from different parts of the world, we chose to celebrate the ceremony entirely in English, allowing everyone present to fully understand every word and every emotion.

The ceremony lasted around thirty minutes and was carefully designed to create the perfect balance between heartfelt moments and lighter, joyful ones.

It included personal readings, speeches from loved ones, the couple’s own wedding vows, the exchange of rings, and their final declaration as husband and wife.

Every element had a purpose.

Every word belonged to them.

Emotion, Laughter and Authenticity

One of the greatest joys of creating a personalized wedding ceremony is finding the perfect balance between emotion and spontaneity.

Throughout the ceremony, there were tears of joy, warm smiles, genuine laughter and long applause from family and friends.

There were moments of deep silence as Liz and Ashit shared their vows, followed by light-hearted moments that made both their American and Indian guests laugh together.

Those are often the memories that stay with everyone long after the wedding day has ended.

Why International Weddings Are So Special

International weddings are about much more than speaking different languages.

They are about bringing together different traditions, different perspectives and different ways of celebrating love.

As a wedding celebrant, my role is to create a ceremony where everyone feels included, regardless of where they come from.

When that happens, the ceremony becomes far more than a formal part of the wedding day.

It becomes its emotional heart.

Villa Arvedi: A Perfect Setting for an International Wedding in Italy

Nestled among the beautiful hills of Verona, Villa Arvedi offers an extraordinary setting for couples dreaming of an elegant destination wedding in Italy.

Its historic architecture, breathtaking gardens and timeless atmosphere create the perfect backdrop for couples travelling from all over the world to celebrate their love.

For Liz and Ashit, it was more than simply a beautiful venue.

It became the place where two cultures met, two families became one, and a new journey began.

Every Love Story Deserves Its Own Ceremony

No two couples are the same.

That is why we never work with pre-written scripts or standard ceremonies.

Every ceremony begins by getting to know the couple, understanding their journey, and transforming their story into words that genuinely represent who they are.

Whether you are planning an international wedding in Italy, a destination wedding on Lake Garda, Lake Como, or in the beautiful countryside around Verona, our goal is always the same:

To create a ceremony that feels authentic, personal and unforgettable.
